Before 1883, there were no church buildings in Altoona. The first services were held in people's homes. When the school was built in 1883, services were held there. The first church built in Altoona was the Union Church of Altoona, Wisconsin constructed in 1886. Baptist, Episcopal, German Lutheran, Methodist, and Scandinavian Lutheran denominations used this building.

United Methodist Church took over the Union Church building
in 1885, but burned in 1926. A new church was built at 428

The building was first home of the Bethelem Lutheran Church, then was the Harvestime Chapel of the Assembly of God, then the Altoona Church of Christ, before becoming the Islamic Center and Mosque. St.
Mary's Catholic Church the original building was was built in 1915
at 1811 Lynn Avenue Altoona. A new building was constructed in 1998
accross the street, connected to St. Mary's school and community center.

| Bethlehem
Lutheran Church started informally in 1845 by Gerrman Luthern
families south of Fall Creek. In 1906, the original church was built
at the corner of Bartlett and 2nd Street West. In 1959
the current church was built at the corner of Hayden Avenue and 9th
Street West.

St. Luke's Episcopal Church first met in the old school built in 1893 and shared with other congregations. They bought the building in 1912 and although the building has been remodeled, they still meet at 320 1st Street West. email Father Usher |
| Grace Bible Church
started meeting at 320 Division Street in August of 2000.
The church met at 3712 Spooner Avenue for five years before renting the
building on Division Street.

Seventh Day Adventist
Church at 919 10th Street West was first a school built in the
1960's. The school closed in 1985. The church moved from Hogeboom
Street in Eau Claire to Altoona in 1991. In 1995 the church was added
on to the school. The church has been meeting over 100 years in this
